Community & Growth Marketing Manager

MarketingContractRemote, Hybrid, or In-PersonSt. Louis, MO

Posted August 2026

Quest March is looking for a Community & Growth Marketing Manager to own the top of our funnel, bringing D&D players onto the platform and keeping them engaged once they arrive. This is a true generalist role at an early-stage company: you'll run our social channels, grow and moderate our Discord, and help design the online and in-person events that pull new players in, while closing the loop with player surveys and market research that feed directly into product, monetization, and event decisions. You'll report directly to the CEO, own user growth as your goal metric, and have unique control in deciding how to hit it.

This role starts as a contract engagement expected to work 30-40 hours a week with a defined initial term of 3 months, and a strong potential for renewal or full-time conversion.

Responsibilities

Community

  • Grow, moderate, and set the culture of the Quest March Discord and other owned community spaces
  • Serve as the public voice of Quest March — responding to players, handling complaints, and surfacing recurring feedback to the product team
  • Recruit and manage volunteer moderators and community champions as the server scales
  • Build relationships with DMs, content creators, and adjacent D&D communities for partnerships and cross-promotion

Social & content

  • Own the posting calendar and day-to-day publishing across our social platforms (TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Reddit, Bluesky/X)
  • Produce or coordinate content that fits each platform — short-form video, campaign highlights, world lore, feature announcements
  • Build and manage a creator/influencer pipeline in the TTRPG space

Events

  • Ideate, promote, and run online events — one-shots, community campaigns, seasonal world events, tournaments, AMAs
  • Scope and pilot in-person events (local game stores, conventions, meetups) and evaluate whether they're worth scaling
  • Handle all marketing around events: promotion, signups, run-of-show, and post-event follow-up

Growth & acquisition

  • Own user acquisition as the primary success metric, with clear targets on signups and activation
  • Plan, run, and report on paid advertising within a defined budget; kill what doesn't work quickly
  • Identify and test new acquisition channels (Reddit, subreddit AMAs, D&D podcasts, newsletters, SEO)
  • Maintain a simple growth dashboard — channel, cost per signup, retention by cohort — and report on it regularly

Research & insight

  • Design and run player surveys and interviews on a recurring cadence
  • Perform market and competitive research (Roll20, Foundry, D&D Beyond, Demiplane, etc.) to inform positioning
  • Translate findings into concrete recommendations on design, pricing, and monetization, and advocate for them internally

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • 2+ years running marketing, community, or social for a consumer product or brand.
  • Evidence you do things nobody asked you to do. A side project, a newsletter, a community you built, a campaign you proposed and then ran.
  • Comfort being measured. You'll own a signup number, run a paid budget, and report honestly on both, including when something isn't working.
  • Strong writing in a voice that isn't corporate. Most of this job is words: posts, replies, event copy, survey questions.
  • Genuine curiosity about D&D. You don't need to have played, but your entire job is going to revolve around it and the community.
  • Good judgment in public. You'll be the face of Quest March in a Discord at 11pm when someone is upset, and how you handle that matters more than any campaign.
  • Self-direction and tolerance for ambiguity. There's no playbook here and nobody handing you a quarterly plan.

Bonus points

  • Experience marketing to an enthusiast audience: gaming, tabletop, collectibles, craft beverage, outdoor, music, anything where customers are fans rather than buyers.
  • You already play D&D, or you've worked in the tabletop or video game industry.
  • You've administered a Discord or large community.
  • You can shoot and cut short-form video yourself rather than briefing it out.
  • You're in or near St. Louis and up for in-person events.

Compensation

$24-32/hour

Optional. PDF, DOC, or DOCX, up to 4 MB.

Pick one social platform and tell us exactly how you'd reach D&D players there. Name the specific communities, creators, or hashtags you'd go after. Tell us what you'd actually post. Tell us what would get us ignored or removed. And tell us why you'd start there instead of anywhere else. About 15 minutes — we'd rather see one channel thought through than five listed.
